Winter Fishing

Now that the Rivers are closed we look to our Lakes for that Winter fish fix.

Lake Jindabyne and Lake Eucumbene are well worth putting some time in wandering the edges or drifting the banks from a boat. Both Lakes are dropping so the Yabbies are on the move and the fish are on to them. Look for clay banks or Yabby shells and concentrate on these areas. Wooly Buggers and big Wets do the job and vary your retrieve. Windy days are very successful but can be uncomfortable! Make sure you are rugged up and look for discoloured water and the edges of clear and coloured water. Strip your flies through the colour, stopping for a few seconds then strip fast, slowly lift your flies out of the water as many times I have had fish following the fly right to your feet.

Fluro Orange bead Black Wooly Buggers have been very popular as well as Kellers She Demons, Burgin Buggers, Jindy Buggers and Yoshi Buggers.

On the sunny calm days polaroiding Jindy for cruising fish can be very rewarding as well as testing your casting skills!

We have been selling S3 sink tip lines for getting down a bit deeper and they are a must casting towards the shore from a boat. You can either use a floating/sinking tip line our use sink tips looped to your floating line.
